House Suha
type: residential
client: private
location: Škofja Loka, Slovenija
project date: 2017
completion date: in progress
floor area: 272 m2
The design goal was to contain the visual mass of the house taking advantage of the sloped terrain on the site. This was achieved by locating a major part of the spaces underground and under a steep pitched roof. This also meant that the ground floor has been pushed back and rose above street level, granting its inhabitants the possibility to open the front facade without sacrificing privacy.
The entrance is located at basement level, the stairs lead to a spacious living area with a double-height ceiling and a new fireplace with the chimney hidden in furniture. The ground floor opens to a wooden floor terrace with a lawn - the visible part of the green roof above the garage.
